Dear Friends,

Southwest Research and Education Service. Inc., first opened a family travel learning site in 1996. We have no count of the number of parents who have used the site to structure their involvement in learning with their children. We have shared. We have learned together. We have sponsored families pioneering travel schooling adventures. Our understanding of the importance of parents taking charge of their children’s education and making sure strong foundations are laid that provide options and success for their children, guide this site.

For the parents, we share the ways to get back in touch with your inner child. Our children bring us back to times when we knew the world was amazing, filled with joys and a great unknown to discover. A time when a trip to the supermarket with mom turned out to be one of the most exciting adventures we ever shared and during which we learned more than we can measure. It was a time when something as small as a shiny pebble led us on an adventure of discovery that has never ended.

For parents, connecting with our children’s childhood opens inner doors too long closed, and laughter, wonder, magic, and pure joy flood out of us again. Whatever the trip or adventure, if we do it with our children, in their realm of understanding, and with full knowledge of the responsibility we have to them to help them master the basic skills necessary to function in our complex world, we will be filled with wonder and joy.

Parents must build the foundations of a successful life for each of our children. It is not the state’s responsibility, or that of a hired sitter. To do less, is to miss the most wonderful gifts of living, and then to live with the fact that you failed.
